LW-PLA
Lightweight PLA (LW-PLA) is the ideal filament for printing RC airplanes, cosplay and other lightweight objects. The parts turn out extremely light, but still maintain good strength and are easy to cut, finish and sand. If part weight is important to you, this is the right filament.
Pro
- Reduces the weight of printed parts by up to 65% compared to regular PLA.
- Allows you to control the volume of the extruded material by adjusting the printing temperature. Around 230°C, LW-PLA starts to expand and can increase its volume by almost 3 times.
- With just one spool of LW-PLA you can print as much as with 3 spools of regular PLA, due to the 3 times less material flow/multiplier.
- Easy to cut, trim, sand and it paints very well.
- LW-PLA (Natural, Black, Gray Silver & Red) hides layer lines very well.
Cons
- The material may run during vacuum movements of the head: this is normal and cannot be removed completely.
- The color becomes lighter when the material is at maximum expansion, compared to the non-expanded state which shows deeper and more intense shades.
