Compass DHM projects presents hardened and ground shafts in the catalog for linear movement.
The shaft is a rod-shaped machine component used for transferring moments and rotational movements. Unlike the axis, which has a pure support or support function, the shaft transfers a rotational moment. The high surface hardness guarantees great performance and high wear resistance (hardening), while the low roughness reduces friction and noise by increasing smoothness (grinding). These rods are characterized by a depth of hardening, a parallelism, a roundness and a rectilinearity studied and realized to allow a linear and precise movement. They are ideal for the construction of linear motion systems both on 3D printers and on small CNC machines such as cutters, pantographs, lasers, etc. Not to be confused with round guides in cheaper "soft" steel (mild steel), which have less resistance to wear and can lead to problems in smoothness and therefore affect the quality of the movement.
