Washers

Among the indispensable components of hardware are washers. Also known as washers or washers, they are a disc with a central hole that are inserted between a nut of a bolt, or the head of a screw, and the object against which it must be tightened in order to improve the locking.

Due to their width, washers are able to distribute the clamping load over a larger area than that provided by a bolt or screw head, which is particularly important when the item to be fastened is made of a low-strength material, such as wood, which would make the fasteners sink. They also increase the friction between the nut and the item being fastened and act as spacers if the screws or bolts are too long.
