The magnetic encoder Duet3D detects the position and rotation of the motor by using a Hall-effect sensor to detect the rotation of a disk magnet attached to the motor shaft at the rear. Compatible with 1HCL expansions of Duet 3.
Supplied with a 150 mm ribbon cable and a set of nylon washers to allow proper mounting on the back of most Nema17 motors.
Replacement (longer) screws are required for mounting on the back of most Nema17 motors, which are not supplied as the length depends on the motor model.
Technical Specifications.
- 14-bit magnetic rotary sensor on axis
- Maximum number of revolutions supported by the sensor 14500
- Supplied with a magnet 4 mm thick and 6 mm in diameter.
- SPI output for communication with a Duet 3 Expansion 1HCL controller
- 3.3V operation-compatible with Duet 3 Expansion 1HCL controller (can be modified for 5V operation for other applications.
- Compatible with all NEMA17 motors with a rear shaft exposed no more than 3.5 mm from the rear of the motor. If the rear shaft protrudes from the rear of the motor, a mounting solution will be required that keeps the sensor approximately 1 mm from the magnet mounted on the shaft.
- It can also be used with NEMA23 flange motors and other sizes as well: To use the Duet 3 magnetic encoder with other motors, you will need a mounting system/plate (this adapter does not come with the board) that keeps the encoder aligned with the center of the motor shaft.
