The ADXL345 is a complete, small, low-power 3-axis MEMS accelerometer module with I2C and SPI interfaces. The ADXL345 board has a 3.3 V voltage regulator and level modifier, making it easy to interface with 5 V microcontrollers such as Arduino.

Application tip: The ADXL345 board can be used as an accelerometer for 3D printers.

Specifically, the Klipper firmware has built-in support for the ADXL345 accelerometer, which can be used to measure printer resonance frequencies for different axes, and input shapers for automatic adjustment to compensate for resonances.
ADXL345 can be connected directly to a Raspberry Pi or to an SPI interface of an MCU board.
The accelerometer must be connected to the printhead. It is therefore necessary to design a suitable mount that fits your 3D printer. Ready-made mounts can be found for most common printers.
One point to pay attention to during mounting is that the screws holding it in place should not touch metal parts of the printer. Therefore, it is critical that the mount be designed in such a way as to ensure that the accelerometer is electrically isolated from the printer chassis. If it is not isolated, in fact, it could create a short circuit that goes on to damage the printer's electronics.
