The linear guides consist of hardened and ground steel rails and recirculating ball bearings. They allow to have a very precise linear motion with low friction coefficients. The pads have an integrated greasing system that facilitates lubrication.
The balls are held in the slider even when it is extracted from the guide, but care must always be taken during the extraction and assembly phase.
