PEI - Polieterimida
PEI filament for FDM 3D printing, ULTEM filament, 3d printer wire, PEI special heat resistant filament.
PEI filament, also called polyetherimide, has a very high heat resistance. Depending on the material, it can withstand temperatures above 200°C. It can therefore be used for special applications.
The 3D printing of PEI requires a high extrusion temperature (350 - 370°C), therefore it is a wire to be used only with particular FDM 3D printers and only by expert users.
ULTEM filament, a derivation of PEI, is highly resilient and resistant to many chemicals.
Applications of PEI filament
These technical filaments find their usefulness in the professional sectors of the aerospace, aeronautics, medical or automotive sectors. PEEK, PEKK and PEI are materials reserved for experienced users of 3D printing.
Polyetherimide or PEI is an amorphous thermoplastic. Requires less printing experience than PEEK and PEKK. More accessible, PEI filament has good temperature resistance, high dimensional stability and high abrasion resistance. These materials are part of the PAEK (Polyaryletherketone) family.
PEI filament printing
PEI filaments require special printing conditions. It is, as anticipated, a 3D thread that is difficult to print. It is therefore intended for expert users equipped with machines compatible with FDM printing of these materials. PEI requires a high extrusion temperature, between 350 and 370 ° C. A heatbed set between 100 and 170 ° C is also required. These parameters vary according to the machines and the brands of the material. Not all 3D printers can therefore support PEI filaments.
